Prayer – Personal and Communal

Who should attend?
Sunday School directors and teachers of all grade levels, potential Sunday School teachers, as well as those who are interested in the ministry of the Sunday School.

Participants will:

  • Have deeper understanding of what the Bible teaches about prayer
  • Become familiar with the daily cycle of worship services in the Armenian Apostolic tradition
  • Discover the paradigm of biblical prayer
  • Identify hindrances to prayer
  • Learn the link between prayer and fasting and acts of mercy
  • Become aware of resources for prayer
  • Gain insight from developmental studies / research about children’s conceptual understanding of prayer
  • Identify the basic elements of a personal rule of prayer
  • Find better ways to teach about prayer to different age groups
  • Articulate rationale for having a rule of prayer

Child care services: will be available

Goals of AREC conferences for Sunday School teachers:
1. To teach the essentials of the Armenian Apostolic faith
2. To enhance pedagogical knowledge and teaching skills
3. To create a forum to network and exchange teaching ideas and resources
