Week 1: Very Rev. Fr. Zareh Sarkissian: Martyrdom for Christ
The lecturer last evening was Very Rev. Fr. Zareh Sarkissian, Outreach Clergy (Eastern Prelacy), who spoke about Martyrdom for Christ. Hayr Soorp highlighted different perspectives on martyrdom in the early church. A martyr is one who bears witness to Christ, one who lives a life of asceticism and commitment to the gospel of Christ, and, if necessary, one who dies for his or her witness for Christ.
Week 2: Archpriest Fr. Gomidas Baghsarian: A Life of Holiness
The lecturer of the second week of the Prelacy Lenten Program was Archpriest Fr. Gomidas Baghsarian, Pastor Emeritus of Sts. Vartanantz Church, Providence, Rhode Island, who spoke about A Life of Holiness . Fr. Gomidas first defined the notion of holiness. He then highlighted five aspects of a life of holiness: repentance and obedience, forgiveness, focusing our eyes on Jesus, prayer and worship, and love for one another.
Week 3: Rev. Fr. Nareg Terterian: “The War Within” to Independence
In this week's Prelacy Lenten Program, Rev. Fr. Nareg Terterian, Pastor of St. Sarkis Church, Douglaston, New York, presents “The War Within” to Independence: A Reflection on Romans 7:15.
