AREC’s Panel ReportIn reviewing last
year’s recommendations to the Religious Council the panel felt it was important
for the Executive Council to revisit those recommendations, more formally
address the issues and prepare a report for the next NRA. The AREC recommendations
as approved by last year’s NRA were the following: - Provide an updated and comprehensive religious education
program with particular emphasis on:
- Establishing
a department of religious and youth ministry within each parish.
- Developing
religious education publications and teaching materials.
- Providing
to Sunday schools minimum educational goals specific to each grade level.
- Revitalization
of a lay ministry by developing a formalized leadership/discipleship program to
include:
- Identification and training of
spiritually inclined individuals in each parish both male and female, who will
work under and with the parish priests to assist with Christian ministry and
teaching.
- This same group of trained
individuals collectively could be shared among our parishes and Prelacy to
support each other’s educational and ministerial efforts and for mentoring the
youth.
- Providing
personnel needed to staff these programs at the prelacy level.
- Providing
the level of financial and technical resources to accomplish the above stated
goals.
Our panel proposes a sum of $10,000.00 to prepare a budgetary analysis
to implement the above recommendations. Additionally the
panel recommends establishing a mechanism for consolidating and networking all
the religious educational resources available through prelacy parishes. Panel Participants: Anoushavan
