Participants:
H.E. Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan Stephen Hagopian - Moderator Noubar Megerian - Prelacy Council Karen Jehanian - Prelacy Council Aram Cazazian John Jerikian Hagop Soulakian Allan Tutunjian Met and discussed the following
topics:
1. Youth involvement
in the Church community 2. Role modeling 3. Creative
approaches in tough economic times 4. BOT relationship
with the pastor, concerning spiritual ministry of the parish
The role of the BOT should include:
• Recruiting DATEV
candidates • Budget funds to
subsidize Datevatsis • Take an active role in communicating
Prelacy programs to the local community • Be aware of local and Prelacy affairs and
give common answers to questions from parishioners • Early planning and goal setting of the BOT
for the year
The Pastor and the BOT have specific
roles in community life. The Pastor and BOT prepare a realistic budget, set
youth goals that include spiritual life and national life, and clarify the
distinction between the two roles.
The Pastor is instrumental in
conducting the spiritual needs of the community. Also, the Pastor should
include a short spiritual lesson at each BOT meeting.
The BOT should learn and lead by being
clear in its mission and vision. The BOT should be active in outreach and teach
Christian charity. The BOT should learn and lead the community. Finally, the economic needs of the community
must include learning how other BOT do things, because each community has
certain functions that it uses; but it could be used by others. In all cases,
it is important that community members are aware of the expenditures and income
in each community. It is important that community members be engaged in the
community functions.
