| “Sexual
Ethics: An Armenian Orthodox perspective” will be the
topic of the upcoming National Conference for Christian Educators,
sponsored by the Armenian Religious Education Council (AREC)
of the Eastern Prelacy, March 17-19, 2006, and it will be held
at the Salvation Army Wonderland Conference Center in Sharon,
Massachusetts.
Led
by noted theologian Dr. Vigen Guroian, the Conference will focus
on ethical living according to the mandates of the Bible, more
specifically on sexual ethical issues such as sex in marriage
and birth control, premarital and extramarital sex, homosexuality
and same sex-union, etc. The conference will equip Christian
educators and parents with the tools to address and teach these
important issues from an Armenian Orthodox perspective.
Dr.
Vigen Guroian is a Professor of Theology and Ethics at Loyola
College in Baltimore, Maryland and a prominent Orthodox Theologian
and ethicist in the academic community. He is the author of
nearly 150 articles and seven books with two forthcoming. Dr.
Guroian is the first Armenian Theologian to be elected to the
American Theological Society and the Orthodox Theological Society
and he has served on the Board of Directors of the Society of
Christian Ethics.
Additionally,
the conference will feature a Bible Study led by Father Antranig
Baljian, pastor of St. Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church
in Watertown, Massachusetts, ¬¬¬along with brainstorming
and networking opportunities with fellow Christian educators
across the nation. As usual, morning and evening church services
and Soorp Badarak will be an integral part of the weekend program.
