Renewing Its Calling For Service
Cilician Brotherhood Concludes Meeting
NEW YORK, NY—The General Assembly of the Catholicosate of Cilicia’s Brotherhood concluded on Friday, January 20. Held in Antelias, Lebanon, forty-two members of the Brotherhood participated in the meeting under the presidency of the Catholicos, His Holiness Aram I.

Clergy from the Eastern Prelacy attending included: Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan, Prelate; V. Rev. Fr. Anoushavan Tanielian, Vicar General; V. Rev. Fr. Shahe Panossian, chairman of the Religious Council and pastor of Sts. Vartanantz Church, Ridgefield, New Jersey; and V. Rev. Fr. Daniel Garabedian.

Elected to serve as co-chairmen were Archbishop Souren Kataroyan and Archbishop Sebouh Sarkissian. Serving as co-secretaries were V. Rev. Fr. Neshan Topouzian and V. Rev. Fr. Krikor Chiftjian.

The agenda of the three-day assembly, originally planned to take place last year but postponed because of internal problems in Lebanon, included issues related to Armenian national and ecclesiastical life. Also discussed was the proposed bylaws of the Brotherhood.

The Catholicos stressed the mission of the Brotherhood—to serve God, the Armenian Church, and the Armenian Nation. “This is our Brotherhood’s unique calling, delivering Biblical values to our people. The pursuit of our nation’s rights, the cultural and social fields form an indispensable part of these values and all of these form one entity. Spiritual life should naturally form the basis of our life and mission,” His Holiness said.
